| VEGAS COMES TO BIRMINGHAM FOR CHARITY CASINO NIGHT | |
The sights and sounds of Las Vegas will be coming to Birmingham next month as Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Frank Sinatra and Dean Martin perform at a charity birthday spectacular at one of the city’s top casinos.
Broadway Casino, at the city’s Broadway Plaza leisure complex, will be reminiscent of the famous Las Vegas Sands Hotel and Casino when it celebrates its fourth birthday on Friday 24 April.
The free event, called Viva Las Vegas, will start at 8pm with guests being greeted by Marilyn Monroe and treated to complementary champagne and canopes. The King of Rock n Roll will take to the stage at 9.30pm, kicking off a programme of Vegas-style music and dance that will also feature Broadways’ very own Vegas Showgirls.
A cheque for £2000, which has been donated by the casino, will also be officially presented to the Birmingham Children’s Hospital for its Kidney Kids appeal, which is raising money for a new renal unit.
Casino general manager Charles Griffin said he was really looking forward to the night: “This is going to be a rare opportunity for people to experience the sights and sounds of Vegas in Birmingham.
“Our lookalikes are top notch – Marilyn has performed for the likes of Sir Richard Branson and Frankie Dettori while Elvis has appeared on Children in Need, Weakest Link and Sky News.
“We are holding the event as a thank you to those who have made Broadway Casino a success over the past four years. We are also using the event to raise the profile of the Birmingham Children’s Hospital and present them with a much needed £2000.”
Fidelis Hynam, corporate fundraising manager at Birmingham Children’s Hospital, said: “Our friends at Broadway Casino are very good to us! What better way that to support us by having fun at a birthday party? It’s going to be great night and I hope everyone who attends both thoroughly enjoys themselves and also feels proud that they are helping us with our appeal to build a brand new unit for our renal patients.”
Viva Las Vega is open to all members of the casino. For free membership and to book tickets for the celebrations contact the casino on 0121 456 5557. 06/04/2009
